Our areas of focus for all youth programs are community education, direct service, and fundraising.
Community Education
Through community education classes we train, empower, and educate the Los Angeles community on how to help themselves during times of disaster. We offer classes such as, Be Red Cross Ready, Basic Aid Training, Earthquake Safety Puppet Show, Scrubby Bear, and Exploring Humanitarian Law. As a youth volunteer, you are trained as an instructor for the Community Education classes and then given opportunities to teach the programs to a variety of audiences, from preschoolers to seniors.
Direct Service
As a non-profit organization, we continue to support fellow non-profit and community service organizations throughout the community. Through direct service activities we are able to partner with other organizations such as, Children’s Hunger Fund, AIDS Walk, Tree People, Habitat 4 Humanity, and the Boy Scouts to serve the Los Angeles community with hours of service over the weekends.
In addition, the District Youth Clubs organize service projects, such as holiday events, blood drives, and military care-package projects. Every District Youth Club member is expected to participate and contribute to these service projects throughout the year.
Fundraising
Fundraisers are an important way our youth group is able to expand their efforts in the community. All the proceeds of our fundraisers go directly to the Red Cross District Club, Red Cross school club or Red Cross chapter. These funds can help victims of disaster and disease all over the world. These efforts inspire the people in our communities to give monetary contributions and help those in need.
