AWARDS
Nominees for these awards may be from any chapter/district in the Los Angeles Region. One winner will be selected in each category* from each chapter and district in the Los Angeles Region.
Clara Barton Honor Award
The Clara Barton Award is for “Meritorious Volunteer Leadership”. This award is presented to a volunteer for service in a number of leadership positions held over 2 years.
The following criteria will be taken into account when choosing the recipient of this award:
Service in a number of leadership positions and personal expertise that has enabled the Red Cross to contribute valuable service to the community.
Leadership in identifying and assessing volunteer performance and organizational concerns. Cooperation with other volunteers and employees in developing and implementing effective solutions in a resourceful and productive manner.
Constructive guidance to co-workers in the efficient performance of assignments.
Disaster Preparedness & Response Volunteer Award
The Disaster Preparedness and Response Volunteer Award recognize an American Red Cross volunteer who has had a measurable impact on the American Red Cross and the community and clients we serve.
The following criteria will be taken into account when choosing the recipient of this award:
The nominee’s achievements must demonstrate exceptional initiative in identifying and /or meeting the Disaster Preparedness and Response Services mission. The documentation should cite specific examples of the nominee’s achievements, how the following were accomplished:
Exceptional skills in recruiting, motivating and/or coordinating employees and volunteers of internal or external groups and agencies in sufficient numbers to successfully support and maintain Red Cross readiness.
Led responsive outreach that resulted in sustained progress in ensuring that the American Red Cross is representative of the communities it serves.
Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity in providing Red Cross services, working with team members and/or developing innovative approaches (programs, services, products) for reaching diverse groups.
Health and Safety Services Award
The Health and Safety Services Award recognizes an American Red Cross volunteer who has measurably expanded and improved Health and Safety Services over the past fiscal year.
The following criteria will be taken into account when choosing the recipient of this award:
The nominee must demonstrate exemplary commitment to the Core Values of Health and Safety Services that focus on service delivery and has demonstrated the following:
Innovative and exceptional demonstration of customer service and accountability.
Commitment to the richness, expertise, diversity and growth of the workforce.
Leadership resulting in the manifestation of the highest standards of Health and Safety Services in service delivery and/or training.
Exceptional teamwork and collaboration within Red Cross and/or with other community organizations, foundations or businesses.
Proven commitment to the American Red Cross Mission.
Shows cultural awareness and sensitivity in developing innovative approaches (programs, services, products) for reaching diverse groups.
Service to the Armed Forces Award
The Service to the Armed Forces Award recognizes an American Red Cross volunteer in a direct service, management or leadership position who has made a measurable impact on the American Red Cross and the military customers and community we serve by strengthening or improving services to the military and their family members.
The following criteria will be taken into account when choosing the recipient of this award:
The nominee’s achievements must demonstrate exceptional initiative in identifying and /or meeting the Service to the Armed Forces mission: Around the clock and around the globe, during times of personal crisis, we keep the American people in touch with their family members serving the United States military.
Innovative and extraordinary efforts in the establishment, expansion, or marked improvement in meeting the needs of customers served at the local, national or international level.
Ability to heighten the commitment of others (both inside and outside the Red Cross) having a positive impact on Service to the Armed Forces.
Cooperative and collaborative relationships with other Red Cross services or units and community groups.
Extraordinary commitment to the successful performance of the job that reflects positively on the American Red Cross.
Extraordinary results in advancing the organization’s goal of achieving total diversity of our people, programs and services.
Certificate of Merit
The Certificate of Merit is awarded to an individual who saves or sustains a human life by action that exemplifies the aims of the American Red Cross. The following criteria will be taken into account when choosing the recipient of this award.
This award is given as a result of a life saving act performed by an individual who has had Red Cross training in first air, CPR, AED or aquatics prior to the performance of the lifesaving or life sustaining act.
Lifesaving Award for the Professional Responder
The Lifesaving Award for the Professional Responder recognizes professional responders who save or sustain a life when on duty and have successfully completed an American Red Cross course in First Aid, CPR, AED or aquatics. The request for this award should be made within 1 year of the lifesaving event.
Regional Volunteer
The Volunteer of the Year Award is the highest recognition for volunteer service that the Region awards. It recognizes a commitment to the Red Cross that goes above and beyond the average.
Youth Services Award
The Youth Services Award is presented in recognition of an enduring and significant contribution by an outstanding Red Cross youth volunteer in support of the American Red Cross.
Leo Riske Registered Nurse Award
The Leo Riske Registered Nurse Award is presented to a volunteer registered nurse who has made an outstanding contribution to strengthening or improving American Red Cross programs and services.
*Category participation at the chapter/district’s discretion.
RECOGNITION
Nominees for recognition may be from any chapter/district in the Los Angeles Region. There is no limit to the number of nominees recognized for these awards.
Chapter/District Recognition Award
This award recognizes chapter/district volunteers in direct service, administration, management, or on governing bodies to the American Red Cross.
Exemplary Service Recognition Award
This award honors volunteers whose performance over a period of several years has substantially exceeded the volunteer’s original commitment to the American Red Cross.
Partnership Recognition Award
This award honors outstanding volunteers for excellent performance on a project between a volunteer and employee for the American Red Cross.
Volunteer Instructor Recognition Award
This award honors volunteer instructors who have significantly advanced the cause of the American Red Cross on a voluntary basis through extraordinary service in training or education.
Dedication Recognition Award
This award recognizes volunteers who have demonstrated significant dedication through hard work and service to the American Red Cross.
