Eligibility
The ARCGLA Intern Program is open to all college students who are currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies (or who have just graduated the spring immediately prior to their appointment). Students are recruited from Los Angeles County area colleges and universities, but applications are accepted from any undergraduate or graduate student. Interns must be eligible to work in the U.S.
How the program works
Application Process: Short term (one quarter/semester) and long term internship (3quarters/2semesters) positions are available during the academic year and the summer months. Visit how to volunteer to get started.
Program Monitoring: During the internship, interns meet periodically with program staff and management to share progress on their assignments. This ongoing monitoring allows for early intervention in resolving any problems that might evolve.
Training Opportunities: Training during the internship includes:
• Orientation to the specific unit and skills training needed for the project;
• CPR/First Aid or Introduction to Disaster courses;
• Orientation to the American Red Cross
Closing Ceremony: At the end of the internship, a final meeting is held to celebrate individual successes and evaluate the program.
