On Saturday, August 9, 2008, seven Red Cross youth volunteers of the Greater Los Angeles chapter had the opportunity to donate their time to the Children’s Hunger Fund, an organization whose goal is “serving children in need…across America and around the world.”
Upon arriving, they were greeted with the friendly smiles and enthusiasm of the program coordinators, as well as other volunteers. The 3 hours that were spent in a Pacoima warehouse were used to package thousands of bags of macaroni, rice, and beans to send away to needy families. As one of their first events of the summer, our Red Cross youth volunteers were able to gain first hand experience on how it feels to make a positive difference in the lives of impoverished children and their families!
