Actress and Red Cross Celebrity Cabinet member Jane Seymour was honored and world-renowned pianist Rueibin Chen performed at the inaugural “Speakeasy with the Red Cross” gala held March 10, 2012 at the Cravens Estate in Pasadena, coordinated by the San Gabriel Pomona Valley Chapter.

Twenty residents of Villa Gardens retirement community in Pasadena were recently invited to tour the historical Cravens House, and in return, brought a very special donation — hand knitted blankets for disaster victims.

Over a hundred Red Cross Volunteers from all over the San Gabriel Pomona Valley and Glendale area gathered together for their Volunteer Awards BBQ held at the beautiful SGPV chapter house. 39 Service Pins were given out by Ben Green and Mark Stapf.
The Clara Barton Award, the highest honor awarded by the American Red Cross was bestowed on Roxanne Schorbach who received a standing ovation as her name was announced by Ed Barlow, last year’s recipient. Greatly deserved, her devotion to the organization has reverberated through-out literally all departments as SGPV’s official photographer. As if that’s not enough, her tireless commitment as Regional DAT Chair and DAT Co-Chair/Team Leader has been truly appreciated by all.

Twenty-one local volunteers have been deployed to 3 national disasters in North Carolina, Mississippi, and Alabama. Four of them are from the San Gabriel Pomona Valley office in Pasadena. Jennifer Lazo, Lindsay Youngquist, Judith Saunders, and Pam Haner left this past weekend for Alabama. They will help with specific duties according to their training and we couldn’t be prouder.
