Southern Californians had barely finished observing the 15th anniversary of the devastating Northridge Earthquake on January 17, when a 3.4-magnitude quake struck the Westside on January 23. As earthquakes go, it was relatively small, felt only by those in the area, but a good reminder that local residents should be prepared for a major temblor.
