L.A. Red Cross Relief Workers Assisting Gustav Evacuees
Sept. 2, 2008 — As part of a massive mobilization effort by the American Red Cross to assist Gulf Coast hurricane evacuees, the Greater Los Angeles chapter has sent more than 30 Southland volunteeers and staff members to Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas to assist with sheltering operations.
The relief workers are from all areas of the Southland — from Santa Clarita to the South Bay to East Los Angeles —and are helping with sheltering, feeding, mental health services, follow-up casework, and other activities.
