Southern California Chapters Meet to Discuss Mass Care

Forty disaster response volunteers and employees from 11 Southern California Chapters of the American Red Cross came together at the Ventura County chapter on Monday June 7 to discuss Mass Care. The Mass Care activity includes sheltering, feeding, bulk distribution and welfare information. These Chapters, as well as volunteers from other California chapters, have been speaking about these topics on a monthly conference call over the last 12 months.

This was the first opportunity for the Mass Care volunteers from each chapter to meet as a group and form break-out sessions to compare best practices and areas where they can better support their neighbors. Chapters in attendance included Ventura County, Greater Los Angeles, Greater Long Beach, Arcadia, San Gabriel Pomona Valley, Santa Barbara County, Orange County, Inland Empire, Rio Hondo, Santa Monica and San Diego/Imperial Counties. For more information please contact Steve Meissner, Mass Care Coordinator at (310) 477-5624 or Cathy Sproule at (818) 621-1611.
