Nurse Assistant Training
Over the next few decades, Southern California’s elderly and disabled population will soar as the baby Boomer generation ages and medical advances extend lives even longer. As a result, the demand for long-term health services in our community will rise dramatically and assisted living services, home health services, and nursing home care will need to be expanded.
In response to this urgent and growing need, the American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles plans to significantly increase the number of trained Certified Nurse Assistants through our Nurse Assistant Training program.
Our NAT program is designed to educate a new generation of health and human service providers who often desire to be entrepreneurs themselves with this in-demand skill, but cannot afford either the time commitment of community college or the costs of traditional training programs.
Some highlights of the course include:
- Course completion in only 4 1/2 weeks, compared to 12 for most programs
- 171 hours of training, rather the minimum required by the Department of Health Services which requires 150 hours
- A pass rate of 97%
- State-tested within 1 week of finishing the class
