Programs & Services
There are many opportunities to support the work of the American Red Cross Los Angeles Region. If you have any questions, or would like more information on our giving opportunities, please call us at 310-445-2685.
Community Support
We are committed to meeting the humanitarian needs of the people in our community, be it disaster preparedness, disaster relief, first aid and CPR training, or disease prevention.
Local Disaster Relief
Nearly every night a Disaster Action Team members phone rings and is called out to an emergency. It is with the support from public donations that allows volunteers to be prepared and equipped to react to a local disaster and help those in need. From July 2009 to June 2010, we responded to 382 wildfires, home fires and other emergencies affecting 1,816 individuals. All Red Cross disaster assistance is free to the public.
Catastrophic Disaster Preparedness
The American Red Cross Los Angeles Region responds to disasters big and small all year long. Recent large-scale disasters have shown that investment in disaster preparedness before it is needed will save more lives and reduce suffering more effectively than a similar investment once a disaster strikes.
International Services
As the center point for international disaster services and programs, the Los Angeles Region has many programs that focus beyond our borders to help those in need. We work with the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movements to help families separated by armed conflicts or disasters and assist in reuniting missing family members. Nurse Assistant Training Program
There is a growing need for highly trained Certified Nurse Assistants, and the American Red Cross Los Angeles Region is responding. Our Nurse Assistant Training Program prepares students to provide quality care to residents in nursing homes, senior centers, hospitals, clinics, and other medical facilities.
