Past Board Member Togo Tanaka Remembered

togo-tanakaTogo W. Tanaka, a member of the chapter’s board from 1978 to  2000, died May 21 at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. He was founder and chairman of Gramercy Enterprises, a real estate holding company, from which he retired in 1985.

As a board member, Mr. Tanaka served as vice chair, secretary and an at large member of the executive committee.  He helped the chapter significantly with his fundraising expertise.

During World War II, Mr. Tanaka was interned in Manzanar and, because of a journalism background, wrote about the camp and the hardships.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jean Miho Tanaka, three children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
