MESSAGE FROM PAUL SCHULZ

CBS2/KCAL9 reporter Lisa Sigell interviews Paul Schulz about Haiti relief efforts during the stations' fundraiser.
When international disasters strike — such as the recent earthquakes in Haiti and Chile — Red Cross workers from the affected country are among the first on the scene. That’s because Red Cross and Red Crescent societies exist in more than 180 countries around the world, and local workers are trained to assist disaster victims.
When the call for international aid is requested, the American Red Cross is always quick to respond. Thanks to the generosity of the American public, including our Southern California donors, the American Red Cross has delivered life-sustaining supplies to more than a million people in Haiti. In addition, $500,000 has been pledged to help the earthquake victims of Chile.
Meanwhile, our chapter volunteers and employees, along with enthusiastic Calif. Safe Corps members, continue to prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters in our own community. If you need assistance getting prepared, please visit our PrepareLA.org website for helpful disaster preparedness information and tools.
