The Roger’s Park Shelter opened last night to serve those displaced by Saturday’s Inglewood Apartment Fire. The Shelter is located at Roger’s Park at 400 W. Beach Ave. The Red Cross team lead by District Coordinator Jerome Thierry fed and sheltered 45 residents at the shelter last night and feed many more at the evacuation center earlier in the day.
The Shelter remains open Sunday Night with approximately 20 residents on hand. The Red Cross is working with the city and fire department to determine when the resident will be able to return. Health and Mental Health as well as Client Services are working with clients as they are needed. Red Cross Staffing is working to ensure that the overnight shifts are filled.
Updated information on the Shelter’s status for Monday night is forthcoming.
