Here’s How to Get Started

1. SIGN UP to attend a New Volunteer Orientation.  Find the best location and time that works with your schedule — see the Volunteer Orientation Calendar for details. (After you sign up, you’ll receive an auto-generated email confirmation immediately.)

2. CHECK YOUR EMAIL.  Prior to the orientation, you’ll receive an email confirmation with orientation details including links to complete an Online Volunteer Application and Background Check*.

3. ATTEND the orientation where you’ll learn about the Red Cross mission and principles.  You’ll also learn about various departments within the organization and where you can play a part.

Additional Steps for EMERGENCY RESPONSE (Disaster Services) Volunteers

4.  DSHR APPLICATION: Interested Disaster Volunteers must also complete a Disaster Services Human Resources (DSHR) application. You can download a DSHR Application to complete and submit it at a Fulfilling Our Mission class OR mail it to our DSHR Coordinator at the following address:

5.  ATTEND FULFILLING OUR MISSION CLASS: This course will introduce potential disaster volunteers to the role of the Red Cross in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from emergencies and disasters. You can view upcoming classes and register for them by accessing the following link:  Disaster Services Training Schedule

Once all the above steps are completed, you will be contact by our DSHR Coordinator to set up a meeting to take your photo for your ID and discuss your goals with volunteering in Disaster Services.

course on August 10-12^th from 8am-5pm each day, and become a CERTIFIED instructor.  This course includes the prerequisite Fundamentals of Instructor Training (FIT.)

• In order to attend you must have knowledge of the current
• First Aid, CPR (Adult, Child, Infant,) and AED skills/practices.
• Please make sure to register/pay before the course begins.
