Antelope Valley Resident Uses Red Cross CPR Skills to Save a Life

On Jan. 27, Ridgecrest resident Sharon Hicks received a Red Cross Lifesaving Award for administering CPR for 10 minutes to save the life of Anthony (Joe) Rice. Medical personnel credit Joe’s survival to Sharon’s immediate and persistent actions.

Volunteers deliver holiday cards to local veterans

Volunteers and staff delivered cards to local veterans Wednesday as part of the American Red Cross’s Holiday Mail for Heroes program. Holiday cards were personally delivered to veterans at the William J. “Pete” Knight Veterans Home in Lancaster, and more will be distributed to veterans facilities throughout Los Angeles County.

Training Classes Added to Schedule for January

AV Volunteers help with response to wind storm

Three members of the AV Chapter’s Disaster Action Team responded to a house fire caused by high winds near Glendale, Thursday, December 1st. The team was able to help a family of three meet their immediate needs and set them on their road to recovery.
