Volunteers provide canteen service to firefighters

AV Chapter DAT Volunteers were at the of a large structure fire at the old H & E building on Palmdale Boulevard Tuesday, May 15th. They were a very welcome sight for some very tired and hungry firefighters who had been working this fire since 4am. Thank you Carla, Michelle, and David!

Red Cross to participate in Fire Service Day

Volunteers from the AV Chapter of the American Red Cross will be participating in the 15th Annual Fire Service Day in Lancaster on May 12, 2012. Volunteers will be at Fire Station 129 from 10am – 4pm handing out disaster preparedness information recruiting new volunteers.

Antelope Valley Resident Uses Red Cross CPR Skills to Save a Life

On Jan. 27, Ridgecrest resident Sharon Hicks received a Red Cross Lifesaving Award for administering CPR for 10 minutes to save the life of Anthony (Joe) Rice. Medical personnel credit Joe’s survival to Sharon’s immediate and persistent actions.

Volunteers deliver holiday cards to local veterans

Volunteers and staff delivered cards to local veterans Wednesday as part of the American Red Cross’s Holiday Mail for Heroes program. Holiday cards were personally delivered to veterans at the William J. “Pete” Knight Veterans Home in Lancaster, and more will be distributed to veterans facilities throughout Los Angeles County.
