San Gabriel Pomona Valley Chapter will present “Speakeasy with the Red Cross,” a formal gala event, Saturday, March 10, 2012 with featured guests Jane Seymour and pianist Rueibin Chen.

The Red Cross offers Los Angeles’ Chinese speaking community disaster preparedness materials at two upcoming events centered in the Asian community.

The Red Cross is in training for a big showing at the 2012 LA Marathon on Sunday, March 18.

On Jan. 27, Ridgecrest resident Sharon Hicks received a Red Cross Lifesaving Award for administering CPR for 10 minutes to save the life of Anthony (Joe) Rice. Medical personnel credit Joe’s survival to Sharon’s immediate and persistent actions.

Red Cross L.A. Region youth volunteers celebrated Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Jan. 16, by distributing fire prevention and safety information to nine communities across the Southland.

The Red Cross opened a shelter Jan. 12 and 13 at Jefferson Middle School in San Gabriel for 30 Mandarin-speaking residents displaced by a multi-family apartment fire.
